No Kids, No Spouse, No Problems.
Recently, there have been a few studies that have dropped where ALLEDGEDLY, women are healthiest and happiest without children or a spouse.
In a nutshell, single women are the happiest women on the planet!
YAY! *insert sarcasm here*
Now, as a single woman, this does bring me some joy *cues Anita Baker*.
However, I find that joy to have a catch 22 lingering somewhere near. I say this because on one hand I find being single very liberating and free!
Itβs not a disease.
Itβs not a plague.
Itβs not something Iβve caught and Iβm itching to get off of me.
I truly enjoy it… most of the time.
That other portion of time, there is a longing for a partner or at least to see what that life is like in a healthy, happy, and non- emotionally terrorizing way. Thereβs also a SHORT longing to see what legacy I would leave behind if I brought a child into this world because having children is truly something I wrestle with.
I donβt know if itβs because Iβve spent so much time on this earth with out them, or because so many people with kids tell you not to have them, or just the flat out FEAR of all the unknowns that come with pregnancy!
Nonetheless, these are real thoughts that I have that sometimes trump the allegations that us single people are the happiest on the earth above everyone else.
While Iβve heard it said a time or two that married people want to be single and single people want to be married, Iβm just going to enjoy the view from this single side of the fence until the right person and experience comes along for me to truly see if
the grass is greener on the other side.
Lastly, what I can find comfort in knowing is that if it isnβt, the happy and healthy single life will always be there waiting for me with open arms.
Yours Truly,
Shaanah Montanna
